HELLO THERE
I’m Suzanne Blanck, a Midwesterner transplanted to Arizona. I know I’m still a Midwesterner at heart because I crave lakeside views, lush green everything, and yes—the long A’s in my accent still haven’t left the building. I’m lucky to share life with my husband Tom, two magical daughters, and a one-man schnauzer named Charlie.
MY JOURNEY
Armed with a shiny new BA in Graphic Design, I started out at boutique design studios and eventually stumbled into the world of marketing and advertising. By 2002, I launched my own company, BlanckSlate. The turning point came at my first National Stationery Show—exposure to major buyers grew my business almost overnight. It was unexpected, thrilling, and still one of my top five life experiences.
Over the years, I’ve designed hundreds of products, managing everything from manufacturing and packaging to logistics and inventory. When my first daughter was born in 2006, 90-hour weeks became no bueno—so I pivoted to licensing my artwork. Since then, I’ve worked with brands like Barney’s of New York, Anthropologie, Target, American Greetings, Oopsy Daisy, Greenbox, Itoya, and more.
WHY I’M AWESOME
My graphic design roots give me a sharp eye for composition, scale, and the details. My marketing background means I understand that the goal is always to sell. I bring a clear aesthetic—but I’m great at aligning it with a client’s brand and needs. I stay on top of trends, know how to use color to move people from “that’s cute” to “that’s mine,” and I’m a good listener who asks the right questions.
My biggest strength? Curiosity. It fuels everything—from my current obsession with motion design and editorial illustration to the energy that gets me out of bed excited to create.
HOW I MAKE MAGIC
I’ve used cut paper long before it was cool. I love gouache, black ink, and oil pastels (which I’m convinced can cure any bad mood). Today, I mostly work in Procreate, using brushes that mimic the real thing—because it’s efficient, versatile, and perfect for translating work into Photoshop and Illustrator. I’m also diving into After Effects to bring my illustrations to life.
COMMISSIONS
Unlike many artists, I love a good commish. In fact, being art-directed is my favorite way to work with clients. Commission-driven projects give me the opportunity to work closely with talented art directors that know what they need, causing every job to end with a client benefit. And that makes everyone look good and helps to build great working relationships.
LICENSING
My licensing catalog reflects my style and curiosity, with work that’s on-trend and ready for collaboration. Got ideas? Let’s talk.
OUTRIGHT SALES
Prefer to buy outright? Great—I actually love that. It keeps my creative momentum going and lets me make space for what’s next. Thank you for the spark.
If you’ve made it this far—just call me already! Or at least get on my list so you’ll be the first to see what’s new. My head is bursting with color combos, ideas, and playful designs. Let’s make something magical together.
